Murderer. Shoving your bumpers and bull bars through other people's cars.
Interesting read that. I still wouldn't drive one though - I have my image to think of. Everyone knows the size of your car is inversely proportional to the size of...

Yeah, sod the enviroment. Your family in the future can wear gas masks. Lets all drive tanks, then we will all be safe. Crush the small cars with the biggest possible ones.

Could always drive landrovers on vegetable oil and be carbon dioxide neutral and increase your survivablily of crashes

Yes, and crush the small far more enviromentally friendly cars, whilst you survive. Families use small cars as well.
There is no need for four wheel drive vehicles in cities. Fact.

I get 44mpg, without trying. There are hybrid cars which get into the 70's or 80's. Economy is blatantly not your concern. I'm alright, so let the icebergs melt?

Keep my 4x4 that keeps my kids safe and we have loads of fun with.
OR get a teeny car that you have a 90% more chance of dying in a crash

Re: UP yours anti 4x4
hmm, I thought the debate here was over safety, not the environment?
If we are really concerned about the environment we wouldn't use cars at all, but confine ourselves to local trips on foot, by bicycle and simialr non fuel burning methods. Anything that consumes a fule, be it electric, recycled cooking oil, or whetever still creates carbon at some stage of the combustion process.
But returning to the safety argument, I seem to recall a safety test, not sure iof it was on something like 5th Gear where thery put a 4x4 against a MPV. The MPV actually came out tops as it was less rigid than the 4x4 and thus abosrbed the impact better transferring less inertia to the car occupants.

Depends on how you define "fact"; seems more like opinion, Mr. Brent.
Anyway, to all those who brag that they get 45 mpg, as has been posted there are cars that give 70+ mpg. If that's your concern why don't you buy one of those? Or get a free one with your cornflakes more like.

Haven't got any kids. And I'm not sure I would want any in this day and age... but believe me, that's nothing to do with the environment.

Safety or enviroment we would be better off walking!
Safety wise if we all drove 18 wheeler lorries, then we would have better crash survival rates, certainly round town.

4x4's for the average joe are just an extension of their penis . Lets face it 90% never ever go off road.
