Westboro Baptist 'Church' strikes again...
Linky
Quote:
The controversial anti-homosexual Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., has canceled its plans to stage a protest at the funerals of the five Amish girls executed in their Pennsylvania school, a church official said Wednesday.
Shirley Phelps-Roper, the daughter of church's pastor, told FOXNews.com the group canceled the protests in exchange for an hour of radio time Thursday on syndicated talk-show host Mike Gallagher's radio program.
Gallagher said that church officials would have to sign a document making them liable for the airtime if they broke their promise not to demonstrate.
"It's awful for me to give up an hour of my radio show ... but I think it’s worth the sacrifice to keep them away," Gallagher said.
But she defended the church's initial decision to protest at the Amish girls' funerals.
"Those Amish people, everyone is sitting around talking about those poor little girls — blah, blah, blah — they brought the wrath upon themselves," Phelps-Roper said, adding that the Amish "don't serve God, they serve themselves."

They are as nauseating and as dispicible as ever. We all remember this group with their psychotic ring leader. This is the group that protests at funerals of military personnel, and AIDS victims.
See the evil psychotic bitch in action.
(Also, can we avoid any of the "typical American..." and "typical Christian..." posts that normally follow please.)

Re: Westboro Baptist 'Church' strikes again...
This group is as "typical Christian" as Al-Qaeda are "typically Muslim".
These are hate-filled people, who think the only viewpoint that counts is theirs, and all others are irrelevant and/or evil.
If there is a God, I hope he is at the Pearly Gates when this poisonous women, and her ilk, get there; I hope he says "sorry, not today - this place is for people who cared for others".
A bit of info on her (set up by her father) church
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church
" The church bases much of its work around the belief that "God hates fags" (its best known slogan and the address of its primary website) and expresses the opinion, based on its Biblical exegesis, that nearly every tragedy in the world is linked to homosexuality (specifically society's increasing tolerance and acceptance of gay, lesbian, and bisexual people). It believes God hates homosexuals above all other kinds of "sinners"[4] and that homosexuality should be criminalized, punishable by the death penalty.[5] In addition to its anti-homosexual stance, the church also possesses a strong anti-Catholic, anti-American, and anti-Semitic stance, picketing Holocaust Memorials in an attempt to downplay the severity of the event, and holding the belief that "Jews killed Christ."[6]
Not only is Westboro opposed by supporters of gay rights, but most other Christian groups (including those who agree with Westboro that homosexuality is a sin) oppose Westboro's theology and practice, believing it to be incompatible with authentic Christian teachings.[7]"
Nice!
" According to Shirley Phelps Roper, the church has "not quite 100" members, "about 80%" of whom are related to Phelps through blood or marriage[6]. A compilation of the names of Phelps' grandchildren and great-grand-children, combined with his nine "loyal" children and their spouses, though, numbers 90, automatically eschewing the 80% estimate"
Can anyone else hear "Duelling Banjos" playing faintly in the background?
Another quote from these nutters -
" Their God is an angry God, the God who, they believe, struck down the World Trade Center as a warning of things to come. One of their placards read "Thank God for 9/11.""
""All ye having business before this honorable [Supreme] Court draw nigh, give your attention and ye shall be heard. No, no. Draw nigh and bend over. They're gonna rape you up the butt". "
"Thank God for IEDs [improvised explosive devices] "
ps - someone has set up a spoof myspace site for her - amusing.

Re: Westboro Baptist 'Church' strikes again...
nice bunch of people. leaving aside their odious views it is pretty astonishing that they felt they could protest at the funeral of five slain girls solely because one of the dignitaries attending had criticised them.
i can see why they decided not to go ahead. wouldnt exactly have been good pr.

They don't care about bad PR - any PR is good for them, as far as they are concerned. They only "cancelled" because they are getting air-time instead.
These are the sort of people, if they were on fire, you wouldn't be able to decide whether to p*ss on them, or not.

Re: Westboro Baptist 'Church' strikes again...
any idea why it was agreed to give them that airtime? seems pretty absurd in the circumstances.

At least with them on the radio, it is far easier to ignore them for that hour

Re: Westboro Baptist 'Church' strikes again...
Shirly Phelps Roper and her band could learn a lot from those children, if there is a God up there I am sure he values humility and self sacrifice above raping peoples grief, if there is any justice when her vile father dies people will protest at his funeral, the sad thing is though, it probably wouldn't bother her.
