It's today. Watch out on the way home.......
Why do you think that this is?

Re: Fatal Friday
End of the working week, people are tired. Before robots came along and did the jobs properly that we should have done, we used to have things called "the friday afternoon car", where if your car was built on a friday afternoon, it was built by tired engineers who wouldn't give it the proper attention, nor care etc, so they used to break down a lot.
Maybe distracted looking forward to their night out or whatever, as well.

Re: Fatal Friday
The 'particularly in August' is due to people going on their holidays. There is a world of difference between the M1 busy on a Tuesday afternoon with people who use the road all the time and know how to cope with the traffic, and the M1 on a Friday evening in August when it's packed with clueless people who only get the car out once a fortnight.

Re: Fatal Friday
Its true that people are tired at the end of the week and try to also get home as soon as possible so that their weekend can begin.
They do say that most accidents happen on your way home, so if we took a bit more care, it might reduce the numbers a bit.

Re: Fatal Friday
It's also that time of year when the nights start "drawing in" - a lovely phrase. I guess the resultant reduced visibility would factor into accidents, that and, as others have said, tiredness and stress.

Re: Fatal Friday
Just ask my colleagues about the M4 from Swindon to Bath & Bristol, every Friday afternoon you can guarantee an accident. Luckily I don't have to do that journey (cause I live in Swindon unluckily )
