Frankly, I don't think that advocating the beating of your wife is as particularly great value. Nor that death is better than life. Nor the fact that mothers have no rights over their children. Bloody hypocrits. 
Just to add to that, I don't really value arranged marriages, marrying within family and spawning deformed children either.

Again I agree OB. Somehow puts my original post into a strange context. Seems all cultures have light and dark sides. The trick is to promote the good and dissuade the bad.

I have no problem accepting that some aspects of British 'culture' leave a lot to be desired. But I'm also a huge fan of 'those in glass houses etc'.... If you don't like the culture of the country you live in, sod off to one that you do like.

Well said, the muslim faith and muslim communities are not exactly pillars of decency -ask the the people who live under the Taliban.
And even if they do have "concerns" blowing us up isn't going to improve things

That's a bit of a generalisation. The Taliban have only ever ruled in Afghanistan, and they only lasted about 5 or 10 years. Even the mad mullahs of Iran are not as extreme as they were.

Of course not. The sad thing is though that the suggested course of beating your wife and the fact that mothers have no rights over their children are not extremist - they're standard law that muslims follow in Islamic countries.
