Re: Kids and car dust caps ?????

smear the caps in dog**** and make sure you use a plastic bag when inflating the tyres.

the might still steal them, but i'd pay a pound to know that these theiving little *******s were sniffing their fingers and wondering "WTF?!". :P

Re: Kids and car dust caps ?????

You could put some of that anti-vandal paint on them.

Sure, you'd have to wear gloves when you were sorting the tyres or whatever but just imagine how much fun they'd have, spending weeks scrubbing their thieving hands red raw

Small drop of thread lock (SMALL I SAID!) this'll make em a lot stiffer to remove which might put the little blighters off.

good idea, but maybe the dog turd is a better idea... the kids may try and wipe the paint/crap off they're hands onto the car as "revenage"... and dog crap washes off a car easier than anti-vandal paint i'd assume...

Things like this are annoying, I would be upset that any one was touching my car in the first place!

Re: Kids and car dust caps ?????

I'm not sure the dog mess trick would be a good idea - these days the kids are likely to come back to the car and do some REAL damage by way of revenge.

Re: Kids and car dust caps ?????

Or just buy normal black ones. I got a set of chrome ones for my car as a birthday present Just before I passed my test. When I got my car for a month it was driven around with the standard ones on and nothing happened to them. I put my chrome ones on and they where stolen in a week. I put the black ones back on and nothing for 8 months.

Saw a kid outside my sisters house the other day crawling around a parked MR2, I thought he was trying to get a ball out from underneath or something equally innocent considdering his age until we realised he had stolen the dustcaps from one side of the car and was trying to let the front offside tyre down . We shooed him off and warned my sisters nieghbour but for the whole time I was at my sisters I watched my car like a hawk incase he tried some revenge.

Re: Kids and car dust caps ?????

taking them of would be good but a little bit like hard work and if the kids cant nick them down go your tyres i suppose you cant win
a pound a week on caps is better than flat tyres it just bugs

Re: Kids and car dust caps ?????

Fit a intercom which is wireless underneath your car and if you see the little twerps you could tell them to $^$%^$ off.

Wire your dust cap to the mains.

Or maybe not such a good idea.

Or the car battery! Alternatively put a notice on your car saying "protected by CCTV" and get one of those cheap computer cams angled to watch the wheels.
