G8 protestors!

They think this will mean it takes longer for me to get home tonight. And they're right, the swines. Still, at least the Police managed to keep them off the Kingston bridge. We'd be in deep doo-doo then.

Well they managed to block off the Shell garage round the corner from the office for a while before they were moved on by the police. The traffic was almost at a stand still outside due to the bridge being blocked.

It's pretty bad down here, they have closed the Waterloo St on-ramp to the M8 to help keep the hippies off the bridge, but there is already a diversion bringing traffic to Waterloo St thanks to the Expressway on-ramp being shut for roadworks. Goodness knows where it's all going to go now. Nowhere fast by the looks of it.

I haven't tried yet ...

I'll get home alright, it'll just take a bit longer to get out of the city. Once I hit the countryside it's plain sailing.

Well I was planning to go out after work tonight but if these nutters are floating about I might just jump on the train straight from work.

I think that would be sensible, there are some right royal idiots drifting around central Scotland at the moment.

Yep, I posted it as an antidote to the urban gloom outside my office door ... Glasgow is normally a fun place to be, but not today.

I was going to head in to town for a bit as well but think I will just go straight home now.

Tonight could be interesting, Drunk glaswiegans and daft muppets dressed as clowns, could be a fair bit of trouble.

I'm sure the protesters will appreciate the irony of you lot moaning about not being able to drive home..... when they're protesting about carbon emissions and road extensions!

I am of course saying this with a wry smile from the comfort of my protestor-free home so don't be donning the Braveheart costume and coming after me when the the George V bridge is open Chris!!

I've lurked here for a while and always thought this place to be fun, but this thread has changed my mind.
I am one of the protesters who have been (until today) camped out at the eco camp at Stirling, and have taken part in most of the peaceful protests that have happened in the last week.
I am not a hippie, or a nutter or a "right royal idiot"!! I am someone who cares passionatly about what is going on in the rest of the world, not just how I am going to be affected!! So your journey home will be slightly more differcult, boo hoo!! One week of disruption and everyone is up in arms!
I always had a postive attitude towards the police and the media but what I have seen in the last week has made me question everything I thought I knew. You label us without knowing us and the issues we stand for all because your day is slightly longer, shame on you!
The protesters are standing up in a non violent (dispite what the media would like) and making their voices heard, can you say the same shouting from behind a computer screen??
