Bus Blues
I thought I would start this thread off ,because lately when I go to visit me mum I decide to be eco, leave the car at home and use the bus, since that is what our prime minister wants all to do.
But the problem is when I get on the bus, I fell like I want to be sick and I was sick today when I got to my mums. I am constantly getting chucked about or if the bus suddenly brakes like they seem to enjoy doing everyone catapults forward. I am fed up of the rubbish standard of driving these public service providers use. I have complained but I know it falls on deaf ears. I was just wondering if anyone else is fed up with poor service. And to be honest I am going to start using the car again because these people do not care about other peoples safety.

Re: Bus Blues
I guess you been using the Barry buses then ;-) To be honest I never use the bus because when I do they seem to fail to wait for me to safely sit down and I end up sitting on the floor next to the driver. Not a good place to be!
I don't think its driving standards although I have been in a bus that nearly knocked over three pedestrians on a zebra crossing. I reckon its wanting to do their route quickly so they can get home early.
Whatever you do DO NOT get on the tour bus to Barry Island, last year the kids revolted and decided to hang off the sides of the flpping open top bus. It made local headlines and the kids were quite proud. THis was a few months after one of the young school children managed to over turn a bus and get a 12 year old killed, it made national news that time.
I hate buses.

Re: Bus Blues
I thought I would be eco as I am at home, but give me my Rover any day. I nearly flew through the front window on Saturday, and all he did was giggle. They are rude and you are right they do not let you sit down. I was shouted at the other month for not having my money out in time. Mr Blair you need to get your buses sorted out before I go on another!

Maybe it's the congested roads? To much traffic equals traffic jams equals stop and start journeys.

Re: Bus Blues
we are quite lucky as this area does not really suffer from congestion, they always seem in a nark and are full of attitude. And they always blame someone or something for them not being on time.

Re: Bus Blues
oh i hate buses. Drive me crazy! Dont mind them so much while i am on it. Get ito seat at the back, talk with everyone. but the WAITING dear god.
I cannot stand waiting, i really am the most impatent person you'll ever meet. (I hate theme parks simply because i dont like to queue. I dont like big groups because it makes it harder to come to a decision which means waiting. I really decide not to buy stuff if i have to queue). Its not the need to get something right away but more the boredom of doing nothing while you wait.
Back on topic. The buses are always doing this too me. When ever I can i bike or walk. This is nice, although it takes long you are never waiting and are always active which means no boredom! (which makes it seem quicker anyway). The problem with bikes is that the amount of cars takes the biscuit! They are everywhere it has taken me 6 mintures to cross a road the other day as i waited for a gap in traffic. One set of traffic lights in town takes 5 mintues to until it lets people cross (imo every other change should be to allow people to cross). Of course even when you dont need to cross you are pushed into the center of the road to avoid cars parked by the pavement (you cannot ride on the pavement because of cars parked there as well). When you ride in the middle cars get annoyed a beep at you which is annoying. Cars really are evil.
Sorry rant over.
1. Bikes Rule
2. Then Walking
3. I do like a nice train ride, get to sit down. Long train trips are great. Buy a drink and read a book
4. Then buses have to do grrrrrrrrrrr

I hate waiting and they are never on time. And if you complain they just ignore you! I feel sorry for you younguns as you have to use this poor mode of transport to get you about.

Interesting that TB wants us to use public transport however is happy to allow the trains to increase ticket prices for rush hour trips to put people off

Re: Bus Blues
If you think the driving was reckless, have you thought about reporting the driver to his bus company and the local council ?
I'm sure they would be concerned to hear what is happening.

Re: Bus Blues
www.gobycoachneveragain.com
I remember once getting a coach from Bangor North Wales to Milton Keynes, within 10 minutes some one had chucked up in the loo, there was a riot over seats at Digbeth and the ethnic chap sitting next to me insisted on speaking to his mate 2 seets away on his mobile phone in some other language.
Oh and it took nigh on 10 hours!!!
Needless to say this was the first, last and only time I will ever go by coach, hence the sarcastic url above.
It also got my arse in to gear in to fixing my car so I would not have to!!!

Re: Bus Blues
Try living here, next to Elland Road. On match days, they stop the buses for safety. Not that the road would be clear enough to get a vehicle down anyway. Nightmare - have to walk into town.
I grew up with parents that never learnt to drive, unless you include FLTs So buses are second nature to me - the filth, the chavs, the having to sit next to the old lady who needs her pad changing urgently, the getting belted in the back of the head with a handbag, the having to cling onto a handrail as the driver hurtles round bends on two wheels... Just take it all in my stride. Well - most days

Re: Bus Blues
I know what you mean about buses. I use them all the time and they can be hell. There is one street where there are speed humps and the bus seems to fly over them whilst the passengers are being tossed around all over the place.
I find thge worst is when you are sitting at the back.
I also cant stand it when there is a baby crying or a nutter who shouts all the time. I've found the solution is to take my Ipod and then just try and forget everything until I step off the bus.
