MINI MOTO street death waiting to happen

The police say they are clamping down http://www.thisisbolton.co.uk/lancas...ws/NEWS23.html
But near where i live it is like santa pod on a sunday and if you phone the police they phone back 45 mins later with "are they still there " i dont know about you but this is and not ecceptable.
my middle son has a mini moto and we pay to go to proper tracks
this isnt just a moan i fear for the lives of these kids who are seemingly oblivious to the dangers on the road + the fact that most ride without helmets or any other protection.
i hope that common sense will soon provale before more children are killed.
not to mention the fact that these things are illegal on the highway.

I think they should be banned as they are dangerous and you cannot see them half the time, you can only hear them.

Re: MINI MOTO street death waiting to happen

The amount of injuries I see because of bikes/scooters like these, I would ban them tomorrow, as to what point do they serve?? They are not even a proper mode of transport.

We have lots of tracks near us but the amount I see on the public highway is ridiclous. I would love to slap the person who invented them!

Re: MINI MOTO street death waiting to happen

My local council has so as I know three tracks which are open to the public 24/7, here on a dirtttrack the kids play with there moto's some still drive on the streets.

Now since they made them tracks the crime rate and abuse from bored kids has halved even done 3/4's.

Anyone remember the 50's where most kids was working on a car or a bike?

I prefer them to have a interest, in the end we all have dangerous interests.

So lets ban all things that aren't used by responsible persons for the use they were designed.

Instead of tackling the actual law breakers who are not using them properly.

If you go down that road there would be a lot of things to ban.

Mini motos are not toys, they are not road legal. It is pefectly safe for kids to use these things at supervised tracks wearing the correct safety gear. It also an excellent way to enter the sport of motorcycle racing at an early age.

Just becuase irresponsible parents let kids ride them around estates is not our fault and they should not be banned because of it.

Should we ban cars because of Joyriders!!!!!. No I thought not.

Re: MINI MOTO street death waiting to happen

I agree Pierre (especially in light of how the Violent Crime Reduction bill is going to affect me) instead of banning things which can be misused, do more to prevent them being misused in the first place, such as more prosecutions and higher penalties.

I have to say that in my street, we have constantl;y got theose little things going like the hammers up and down the street.
Our street has now gone to the Local council with a petition to try and get pillars erected inthe streets to make it harder for them. I dont mind people using them responsibly, but in the early hours of the morning it is just ridiculous.

Re: MINI MOTO street death waiting to happen

I nearly ran over a couple of little scrotes the other day - one of them on a mini motorbike, the other on a mini quad. They were just drifting all over the road. Still, at least there was an older ned with them (big brother, possibly), yelling at them to get out of my way.

When we lived in Hemel, a couple of the local chavlings had motorised scooters that they used to hurtle up and down our street on, at quite ridiculous and frightening speeds. Always in the summer with no shirt on. I can only imagine the carnage if they had fallen off, or gone over the bonnet of an oncoming car.

As you may have gathered by my previous post I am a motorcyclist which is why I do not believe they should be banned.

But I have no sympathy whatsoever for youths riding either mini-motos or legally riding scooter without the correct clothing. It would be a hard lesson learnt if they came off but one that they would learn well.

I also have no sympathy for the idiots you see on larger capacity machines in the summer riding in shorts and tee shirts. It's their perogative but I guarantee if they come of once they wont do it again. A few skin grafts is more than enough to change your point of view.

While I'm on I think it's rediculous that teenagers are allowed to ride 125cc machines which are more than powerfull enough on provisional licences when they only test they have to do is a CBT.

They should not be allowed on the road unless they've undertaken a full bike test.
