Abigail regains movement
BBC
Well at least there is good news now and then
Quote:
Stabbing victim Abigail Witchalls is slowly regaining movement after being left paralysed by the attack in April.
The 26-year-old mother, whose second pregnancy is said to be progressing normally, can now eat, speak, move her arm and hand, and sit in a wheelchair.
The orthopaedic hospital treating Mrs Witchalls has said she is recovering "in small but important ways".
Mrs Witchalls, who was thought likely to die after the attack in Surrey, said she felt "incredibly blessed".
She said she was happy to be able to spend time with her son, "excited by every bit of progress", and "in good hands".
And her husband, Benoit, said members of the family were spending time with her every day.

But, she is in what is apparently the best hospital in the country (possibly in Europe, if not the world) for orthopaedic injury
I know it *is* an excellent hospital, as my sister had major back surgery there 11 years ago, and she is still under the care of the consultant who performed the op.

The injury sustained makes it unlikely that she will make anything like a full recovery, it doesn't matter where she is or how good they are.....she would need a miracle.

True, but I didn't say it would. I pointed out that she is probably in the best place..
Having said that, our local hospital said my sister was less than 30 days from dying, then referred her to RNOH who tried a (then experimental) operation and saved her life.

were there any advances in treatment made during the research done trying to treat Christopher Reeve? - I'm thinking of electrically stimulated nerve growth & regeneration using stem cells??
