Children Die In Flat Fire
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0...377447,00.html
Yet again kids are dying, people need to buy smoke alarms to prevent another tragdey happening.
Smoke alarms are cheap to buy and you should have them in every room in the house (except kithcen and bathroom) and idealy get ones that are connected, so that if one goes off they all go off.

Re: Children Die In Flat Fire
Ah that is awful. I feel for the families that have to deal with this. Children dieing so young is awful.
You are definately right about the need to have fire alrams fitted.
You can get them for less than £5 and I am sure they even give some away free.
It is important to remember to test it every week and replace the unit every five years. They can be life savers.
Sitting down with your family and establishing a safe exit route and making sure everyone knows what to do in the event of a fire is also worth doing.

Re: Children Die In Flat Fire
Someone urgently needs to develop a smoke alarm that (a) doesn't beep when the dog farts; and (b) doesn't need batteries. Otherwise people will keep on dying for want of a £5 device. I don't see why house builders can't be required to install mains wired ones. At my last flat, I had to remove the battery and turn the electric off to stop the alarm beeping. Council electricians wired the alarms on the lighting fuse, which made it interesting on a night
It's always sad when children die

Re: Children Die In Flat Fire
When I said "one of mine" I meant the smoke alarm rather than anything else
