blacklisted parts of the uk....

courier firm DHL has blacklisted parts of the UK after its own drivers complained that parts of the country were too dangerous to deliver parcels.

Quote:
DHL has put parts of London, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham off limits

Quote:
Recently blacklisted areas include London's Canning Town and Custom House.

Shame, this will be instantly jumped on by those trying to claim that the country is heading down hill and that things are getting worse

some small bits are bad, but its overwhelmingly drug/gang related.

i think the solution is, don't live in those areas

Yeah I know. Meadows and St Anns are sh*t, Radford and Sneinton aren't much better, Lenton's slightly better cos it's students... outside that, apart from the main council estates (Broxtowe, Clifton, Bestwood) and some chavvy bits like Bulwell, rest is fine.

So NG2,3,7,8,11,5 & 6/15 are off limits then - that leaves NG1,4,9,10,12,13 14 & 16 as OK then.

City Centre, Carlton, Beeston/Wollaton Stapleford/Long Eaton, Radcliffe-on-Trent, Bingham, Burton Joyce & Eastwood - yup you have a point!

No need to jump on it. Speaks for its self.

I am sure our good Mr Blair will create a 5 year plan to fix it

Re: blacklisted parts of the uk....

Most towns and cities have areas where certain services refuse to go due to problems with attacks or vandalism etc. It's normally down to small groups of idiots whose actions make it difficult for everyone living around them.
A lot of these problem areas occur in areas where old, badly designed and badly maintained blocks of flats are used as low-cost housing solutions.
I know of areas of Peterborough where it got to the point that busses refused to run at certain times of day, there are also areas here where even the milk floats have to have security cages around them.

It is believed DHL has about 24 UK postal areas on its blacklist at any one time.
This is the telling quote - it basically means that areas become more or less dangerous all the time and are correspondingly added/removed from the blacklist. Naturally, 'area so dangerous DHL put it on blacklist' is a better headline than 'area now safe enough for DHL to deliver in again'. Hence the view is, as usual, skewed by media preoccupations and we must, as usual, make allowances.
