Researchers from three US centres found men exposed to a high amount of sun had half the risk of the disease than those exposed to a low amount.

Woah...but surely it would cut the risk of prostate cancer, yet heighten the risk of skin cancer...paradox...

Only goes to prove the fact that one shouldn't place all ones's faith in statistics. They only ever show one small part of the whole story and the media's passion for them is bad journalism.

Yeah that does seem strange to announce such a thing even if its true, knowing the amount of skin cancer cases that are on the rise.
You can get vitamin D by eating most oily fish anyway.

Have to feed my other half loads of oily fish then (whenever he takes hit t-shirt off you are blinded by the white) as he works nights and doesn't get much sun

erm how is one thing that can kill you worse than another, in fact IIRC, prostrate cancer tends to stay put, skin cancer can spread to other parts of the body.
I agree with Incog about the bad journalism

That's an awfully long piece for something so unconclusive and daft.

But if you catch it in time, Skin cancer can be removed easily and the signs (changes is size/colour/look of a mole) is relativly easy to spot. 9/10 chance of survival of caught in time. Prostrate cancer (as far as i know) has a lower survival rate, harder to remove, hard to catch early isnt it?
Obviously both of them are scary and horrible
