men: do some more housework pronto!

a new law for civil ceremonies is being drawn up by spanish MP's which will require men to do an amount of housework/chores and even take care of household members.

Quote:
The new law, which will be introduced this summer in Spain, promises a revolution in a country where nearly half of all men admit to doing no housework at all.

Puffing and panting and swearing under his breath, 36-year-old Santi Risco tries to put up an ironing board. He doesn't have much success and it's a pretty painful sight watching a previously undomesticated Spanish male trying hard to change with the times.

i wonder what british men and women would think to something like this

I like it. Not for me so much as my other half is pretty good but I see many men who could do with helping their partners.

Awwwww!! I'm sure there is someone out there Raistlin, you just haven't found her yet...... And think what a good catch you will be when you DO find her!
No complaints here about division of labour in the house - Paul is more than capable of all of it and does a very good job - I've been really spoiled since I came out of hospital. But I do draw the line at ironing - that's MINE!!!!!!

Re: men: do some more housework pronto!

I don't do ironing, I just never have, even when I lived on my own. However I do hoover, cook, help make beds, wash up, clean the bathroom etc, to make up for it.

- I do admit to 'male pattern dust blindness', though

Regarding this law in Spain, as was pointed out in the article - how many women are actually going to report their 'macho' partners ???

well not the teachers:

Quote:
"I don't like the new law at all," says Patricia, a schoolteacher. "I love macho men. They are more masculine and I don't care about doing some housework."

Re: men: do some more housework pronto!

I find it right that men should do their bit of housework.
Wives should not have to do the washing up everyday or cook every meal. I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and hoovering. Put a good CD on and you dont see the time go by.
I also cant stand dust so dusting and floor cleaning is a big thing I like to clean often.

Me too. It will be quite nice, moving in with a girl and making her do some of the housework for a change.

I think this is a bit nanny-stating. Surely it should be up to the couple to find their way of doing things which makes them both happy?

Don't worry, you're a special case. We agreed that i'll be the kept househusband, remember?

Anyways, Don't worry i'll convince you/her one way or other. Either with my charm, charisma, wit, or failing all that, a cricket bat.
