DrinkOrDie members imprisoned
source: http://business.timesonline.co.uk/ar...600964,00.html
Quote:
Four British members of the global "DrinkorDie network", an underground software piracy ring that made millions of pounds before being infiltrated in a global police sting, were sentenced today at London’s Central Criminal Court.
...
Alex Bell, 29, received a two and a half year sentence for his role as a supplier of software and credit card numbers from Morgan Stanley where he was an IT manager. Steven Dowd, 39, was sentenced to two years for supplying software. Mark Vent, 30, was sentenced to 18 months after pleading guilty to supplying and cracking software. Andrew Eardley, 35, was given a suspended 18-month sentence for his role as a recruiter to DrinkorDie.

Remember kids, software piracy is illegal!

Re: DrinkOrDie members imprisoned
I don't think I would worry too much about those sentences if I had made 'millions'.

Re: DrinkOrDie members imprisoned
I'm not sure that they did make millions... I would've thought that the sentences would be much steeper if they had profited financially from their actions. At least, I'd have hoped so. If not, I'll be a cellmate of Bubba if I can stash several million quid away for when I get out

Well, they are computer nerds, not hardened violent cons. I shopuld imagine unless it is a pretty open prison, they wouldn't have a good time. They'd get pushed around by everyone.

...in which case it's copyright infringement, and not piracy as such.
