The Cable Forum Exit Poll
AKA, The election results for the Constituency of Cable Forum.
Please vote and tell us who you voted for. We want to try to get a definitive exit poll, which means there is no 'I didn't vote' option, but if you did abstain, please say so in the thread.

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
Don't worry, you'll have plenty of opportunities in your lifetime. I was lucky enough to be 19 when I got to vote in my first general election, so I didn't have too long to wait.
I've not voted today yet, but my polling card is in the glovebox of my car, and I'm planning to call in on my way home this evening.

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
I'm a self employed person with a fast dissapearing personal pension so no surprise I voted Conservative.Unfortunately, due to the last boundary changes, what used to be a solid Tory seat has been lumped in with a large part of Oldham, so it is now a fight between Lab & Lib Dems.
I do not doubt that Labour will win due to the anomolies of our electoral system, and in some ways I take a perverse pleasure in this. The economic disasters that are building up in this country will be laid fair and square at their door.

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
As I saw on the TV last night, even if the tories do get a larger proportion of the votes, the electorial boundaries are now expected to be weighted against them. Apparently it's much easier for Labour to get / stay in.

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
Personally I think the whole country should boycott todays voting as a stand for the 1000's denied voting rights as councils have taken so many of the electoral role for no good reason.
And all take the day of work aswell juts to stick the boot in :P
No voting here, unlikely Labour would get unseated anyway in my area and if they did then it would be just another jerk off from an opposing party, same s**t different wrapping

The Electoral Commission is not, itself, allowed to take political considerations and voting patterns into account. However, it is allowed to listen to representations from the public and other interested bodies. And from what I heard, Labour did an extremely good job of being interested, and lobbying for favourable boundaries, which the 'apolitical' muppets at the Commission seem to have swallowed without much consideration for their likely motive. The Tories, meanwhile, seem to have been caught with their pants down and played little part in the process (which, incidentally, took place quite some years ago now).

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
A few years ago the Lib Dems were pushin proportional representation. I heard nothing of that this time round.
Would be interesting to know what government we should get if we were simply able to total all the votes across the UK, rather than consituency based system we do have. Will any one party, or even parties be able to stand up and say "we wuz robbed".

It is in their manifesto, but they have finally realised that bleating about the electoral process is not a vote winner and have spent their time talking about issues people actually want to consider for a change. I have been impressed with the Lib Dem campaign this time round, easily their most professional yet.
(The only thing that irritates me is how they wheel out Liberal Girl, their trophy by-election-winning teenie, at any and every opportunity - she's going to make a William Hague of herself if she's not careful).
The Lib Dem position is to hold a referendum on electoral reform, not to change to PR automatically.

Funny you should say that, I was thinking the same thing. In the Lib Dems eyes, she represents what they stand for, but more importantly presents herself well. She is young, attractive, smart, and comports herself brilliantly (something that increasingly large swathes of her political persuasian fail to do). In the Lib Dem's eyes, the only way she'd be more of an asset is if she was black/asian.
Edit: I would say that Charlie puts a bit of undue pressure on this, because it seems that the party rides on Charlie AND her, but TBH, that's her problem to deal with. She maybe young, but we can't patronise her for it.. She'd have to work as hard, with the stress level as someone twice her age.

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
Well, I voted last week (postal vote) so I have added my choice to the exit poll. I voted Conservative as I live in a safe Tory seat, but I did not want Labour to get in the back door.
If I had lived in the next road but one (Cambridge constituancy) I would have voted LibDem to give the Labour MP a run for her money!

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
Just voted Lib Dem locally and nationally. Even though the population locally would vote for a blue balloon on a string. Biggest nuisance is having the children home on what is a school day.
