Re: Florida girl's abortion allowed
if she lacks the ability to make a decision, surely she lacks the maturity to look after child...?

Re: Florida girl's abortion allowed
My guess is that she would not have been able to look after it in any case...

I didn't read anything that would confirm that she had any choice in getting pregnant either, so maybe no maturity on her part at all.

Re: Florida girl's abortion allowed
I agree, but its a issue really lies between her and her family, I understand the point of making this all into the public eye, but I bet this aint helping her in what will be quite likely the most hurtful and horrible choice of her life, and she will have to live with it.

Which is why the case became public in the first place.

Re: Florida girl's abortion allowed
If she couldnt look after it, the baby could've been given up for adoption! Why terminate a life so haphazardly?

Florida Governor Jeb Bush said the state would not fight the judge's decision, but expressed sadness about the situation.
"It's a tragedy that a 13-year-old child would be in a vulnerable position where she could be made pregnant and it's a tragedy that her baby will be lost. "There's no good news in this at all," he said on Tuesday.

Stick a bible up your arse, Jeb. Sorry, I'm not into this religion and politics - mixed - thing in the US. They've taken it upon themselves to hate Bin Laden, for effectively the same idiocy.

Re: Florida girl's abortion allowed
Personally I don't think we know enough about the background to this case to be judgemental either way. We do not know why this girl was in State care, the circumstances of her pregnancy, the quality of sex education, her own reasons for seeking a termination....
Sad to see a girl so young getting pregnant though.

The girl told the judge last week as part of the psychological evaluation process that she wanted an abortion, citing her age and no way to support a baby.

Kind of agree with you here. And I am more than a little confused about what he said. Para-phrasing he was saying that:
- A 13 year old girl being pregnant is wrong.
- A 13 year old girl having an abortion is wrong.
I know this is a sensitive subject but you can't have it both ways Jeb! Or are you as thick as your brother?
Quite honestly I find it highly offensive that so many politicians now wish to interfere (especially in the US) with people's lives, spouting off religion as a reason to do so.
Surely politicians should stick to politics, as they not only represent (IMHO) extremist Christians but people of all and no faith.

Re: Florida girl's abortion allowed
the problem is in the majority (60-70%) of americans are indeed religious.
so when bush senior interferes its leading the americans like sheep they will follow because its a religious line.
