I don't ask about your basis for opinions, do I?

But it wasn't about your "opinion". It was about some kind of "knowing".
You make a cryptic remark about knowing something more of the prison/legal system than the average person might in what comes across as some vain attempt to bolster your statement or dissuade opposition to it. We don't know from what aspect that knowledge may be or even whether you are just full of BS.
I think you need to have been around here a lot longer before you can just expect people to just take you at your word like that.

You can take what I say in whatever way you like. This (as far as I recall) is a forum for sharing opinions; hence, whatever I say on here is my opinion, I shouldn't need to point that out for everything I write.
Regardless of whatever my experience and knowledge of prison and the legal system is, you can choose whether you agree with my opinions or not; to be honest, I don't give a flying one either way. The same goes for whether or not you believe what I say when I believe it to be fact.

Re: enough to make you sick
Whatever way I like? OK, shall I take it that you used to mow the lawns outside the prison, made the tea in the probation office or you went out with a high court judge? I dunno.
Opinion is just that: opinion. That is perfectly fine. However, if you want to profess that you have some kind of knowing then you have to be prepared to back it up with something a little more convincing when questioned.

Like I say, choose to believe what you like; but you have no God-given right to question me as if I am not believable. Otherwise I shall read your every posting and question it in the minutest detail.
Yes, I would say I have more knowledge of the prison system than the average person. In what way, I am not prepared to divulge - some things are a little too personal too discuss in a public forum. Make of that what you will, as I said earlier, I don't give a tinker's cuss.

then if that is the case , why get so involved and wound up , i reckon you dont need to go into detail , just back your argument or point up , at the end of the day who gives a toss if you have been to prison or are a warden , it wont any difference to me , at the end of the day you are a faceless internet presence who i am highly unlikely to meet , and even if you had committed some nasty crime i would be prepared to accept that you had learned your lesson and were now trying to get on with your life , anyway , back on topic , did i mention that a lad i work with lived next door to this poor woman , i hope to god he does not find out who did it

Paul,
I'm not wound up, but when someone decides to question the basis of my personal opinion (which I am entitled to) and then mocks me, I don't really think that's funny.
Anyway, I hope the lad DOES find out who did it.

I see, you don't like it when someone questions the basis of your opinion - i.e. the facts on which you base you opinion.
Nobody is questioning your right to opinionate freely but when you say you "know" certain things in order to give you opinion/argument a leg up then you must be prepared to go some way to back it up. You, it seems, are not even prepared to make any compromise. If you say that you don't care about that then don't be surprised if nobody takes you seriously. If you still don't care then why are you here?

You have a problem with my being here? Tough. As far as I know, I have as much right to be here as you.
And for whom exactly do you speak, when you say "nobody" takes me seriously? Let's have some facts to back up that statement.

Re: enough to make you sick
I am sorry to say me but I have to agree with flub, you have not seen what impact this has had on this community, the elderly people are really scarred and I must admit, I do not even feel safe anymore. You need facts and figures to back up your statements.

Which statements Allie? The statement that I think I know a bit about the prison system? I don't see what kind of difference that will make to the community at all... but to be honest, there are certain issues that I don't want to talk about. I can speak about the prison system, and comfortably so; but as for how I have gleaned my knowledge, I am sorry but that's a little too personal in my opinion. So, believe me or not, accept my opinions or not, that's your choice. I shall still state my opinions, and back them up when I feel I need to.
My opinion in this case is that the scum who effectively killed the old lady should be beaten to within an inch of his life... That's what SHOULD happen, but in reality I doubt if there will be much more than a slap on the wrist, and that's what makes me sick.

Fair enough, if that's the case. But if she has been found to be the victim of a burglary, what then? Is it a case of "her own fault for hiding"? Personally I think that anyone who burgles the elderly, which eventally leads to death, should be treated as a murderer. Similar to the recent thred titled "Scum". Just my opinion.

And I have as much right to ask for you to elaborate on either what you know or how you come to know it. It is a fair request.
I don't have any facts to back up THAT "statement" because you quoted only a portion of what I actually said. The portion that suits your rant.
I SAID, don't be surprised if nobody takes you seriously. I never said that people will not take you seriously full stop. You will always have your unquestioning fans but right now you seem surprised and annoyed that you've had the basis of your opinion questioned.
