Safety Restraint?

Now I'm all for disciplining children - but is this taking things a bit far?
Mind you, I bet she'll behave in future!!

Re: Safety Restraint?

Looks like a failing on the part of the nursery school teachers. Mind you, the police were non too bright either. Wonder what the parents are like?

I wonder what the girl had been given to eat/drink--'cos that can send a 5 yr old ballistic sometimes.........

Re: Safety Restraint?

Saw the pictures on the news, quite unbelievable. Three police with handcuffs to control a five year old.

Skittles? Taste the rainbow of psychotic behaviours.

Hmmm, you'd think teachers and/or coppers would be able to restrain a 5 year old without resorting to cuffs.

Cool There's nothing worse than a kid in full blown tantrum mode. Not that I like the little *******s anyway.

Re: Safety Restraint?

My uncle handcuffed me to my grandmother's kitchen table when I was 4.
I still get a tingly feeling whenever I see a table leg

I have to say though that when my gf was that age she broke the nose of her headteacher and it took several people to restrain her.

Re: Safety Restraint?

There is nothing wrong with a bit of restraintant. My mum had a go at me a while ago because I have a nephew who has aspergers and I had to use a restraining technique to hold him down so he would calm down. I felt so guilty because it was what I had learnt at uni when you have to restrain a person, I was hoping that I would never have to use it again. But when you see a kid lashing out at my mum, I just made hit the deck and kept him there untill he settled. I know certain people on this forum will have a go at me, but just wait till it happens to them and they do not have the training I have to have on a yearly basis now, lets see how they cope, and yes I have only used them on my kids once because they attacked their father who is disabled and I could not see him in pain.
