whether he sing the praises for condoms does not come into it, I am a catholic and I shall were a condom (it's my right as a protestant to wear one of those little johnny thing on the end of my cock..... sorry I got a flash back from Monty Python and the meaning of life.) if I want to. it is up to me to decide. I don't go to confession and say that I wore a little rubber thing so that I could not make babies. as far as I am concerned, I shall do what I want.

the fellas at the vatican, wanted him in, so in actual fact it is nice work.

I can see where you're coming from, but you are armed with the full facts. Using disinformation in an attempt to keep (probably less well informed) people from using from condoms when AIDS is ravaging a whole continent is a little irresponsible as far as I'm concerned. The fact that the Vatican choose someone who is known as a Conservative makes it unlikely that this will change in the near future, and I am sorry to hear that.

Scum Utd had a player called Karol Poborsky... he was Czech, and he had long hair.

It's a girl's name...

well that is why we have confession, to confess our sins, after all we were given a choice. those who choose to believe and those who choose not to believe.

everyone, even popes probably, have to confess something, we are after all, only human.

so therefore you would find it very hard to find someone on this planet who has never sinned.

IMHO confession just gives licence to do what you want then go and admit it to a priest and feel happy about it,
A murderer can go in and confess and the priest can't tell thats just plain nuts imo

yes a murderer can go to a priest and ask for forgiveness after he has killed someone. and the priest will forgive him, as will god.
the point here is that he has asked for forgiveness in the eyes of his god, thats all.
he should still pay the penalty for his actions. but his god will forgive him, because he has admitted he done wrong.

if you had committed murder at some point you may feel that you need to have a clean soul by asking for forgiveness whether it is a catholic priest, a protestant minister, a budhist monk, a franciscan friar, a jewish rabbi,or just an average joe.

and anyway, the last rites is a basic confessional, that you do not have to say anything in, the priest gives you absolution before entering the gates of heaven with a clean slate so that you can meet your maker.

Re: Breaking News : New Pope elected

If he can get there in time that is

The title of pope comes from the latin Pontifex Maximus the title the roman emporor held as head of the pagen priesthood,Ironic how those who persecuted christians now hold reign as biggest christian church

Well, wouldn't the type of Pope chosen affect the future direction of the Church in various ways? (& the direction it takes could then affect just how well the Church actually does itself wrt to support, membership, etc)
