Hmmm, do the surnames not seem familiar then? Didn't one of them have a daughter called Mercedes as well?

Re: Jef Raskin dies aged 61
as a related note...this does beg the question how does one guy/company get world recognition for something someone else invented/discovered?... What chain of events are necessary to be able to replicate such as thing.
....and in school we were told Plagarism doesn't pay!!!

the surnames do give it away, but who remembers them as in being the inventors? not as many think it is Henry. thats what I am trying to say.

Re: Jef Raskin dies aged 61
Aren't people entitled to their own opinions?
I am of the opinion that although Apple did not invent the GUI, they were instrumental in gaining mass market acceptance for it, and the Macintosh team where an integral part of that. Put bluntly, I suspect that had they not been around, the UI of the computers we use would consist of a keyboard and a monitor displaying the "C:\>" prompt.
There are a few of industries where someone has created something that has changed our way of life. Henry Ford is one good example (if he hadn't have been around, how many of us would still be able to afford cars?). Why shouldn't these people be recognised for what they did?

no your wrong, he infact DID write the dictionary.
In any event it was nothing to do with Henry Ford. As you can see from the post, it quoted Caspars thread and not yours. It was just a cheap crack at the spelling. Never mind

Industrial espionage.
Actually, we were taught at Uni that the way Microsoft got away with allegedly copying the look and feel of the Mac OS was that Microsoft ensured that team designing Windows never saw a Mac. The team they had investing a Mac simply documented their idea of a perfect OS, and the Windows team saw this..

Possibly, our lecturer did say it was a rumour, but there was a lot of legal action flying between Microsoft and Apple in the 80s, including claims that Windows violated the look and feel of Mac OS 1. It's doubtful Microsoft would have been able to copy an OS that closely on one sight. Assuming of course they did copy it..
