Too Posh to push?
http://www.sky.com/showbiz/article/0...171679,00.html
Whilst it's great news that mother and child are well (and this isn't to be a discussion on wether you're tired of hearing about that family), no complications were reported or expected, so I wonder why the need for a cesaerian?

Re: Too Posh to push?
I don't think there is any choice. She's had cesarians before I beleive, One you start down that route I think medical advice is you must have them again incase things split of theri own volition

Because she's had 2 previous deliveries that way, the risk for complications is too great. If you've had one caesarian you might be lucky enough to find a consultant who will take the risk of you delivering normally for your second confinement - but usually they won't take the risk and opt for the surgical route. I think she has to have surgical deliveries anway, as her first labour did not progress as well as it should have done.

Re: Too Posh to push?
Really? I wasn't aware of that. Well let's hope that's the reason, as cesaerians should always be a medical decision, not a lifestyle choice.

 You've seen us then?
Anyway - back on topic - I think another reason for the increase in surgical deliveries is that doctors are very wary of being sued should anything go wrong - so they opt for the 'safest' (for them) route. You are much more likely to have complications after a surgical delivery than a 'natural' one - although what is 'natural' about laying on your back for hours and hours with EVERYONE taking a look and being subjected to all sorts of wierd and wonderful medical tools escapes me!

Yeah - looks like they've done it again with the name - don't think we'll see that one in the 100 most popular names list this year!

Yes, any subsequent natural births are called 'trial of scar'
Both of our kids were cesareans, safer for the child if it's planned

Repeat cesaerians are not always the best way to go.My sister-in-Law ended up in a coma through a combination her second one going badly wrong and a blood condition whereby her blood didn't clot as it should. She was severely ill for months.

Absolutely! They aren't as safe as natural birth (for the mother)
