Re: Mutant Fish With Human Faces !
The thing is that, if you tell people they will see human faces on those fish, then they will see those faces. If you tell them they will see something else, they will probably see something else.
I read recently about a case where a doctor saw a patient's x-rays and missed what later turned out to be a tumour - the doctor was taken to court, where they showed a bunch of experts the x-rays that this doctor had seen and then asked 'can you see the tumour?'. Now, of course, because they were looking for a tumour, they immediately found one.
In a related series of experiments, a number of other doctors were shown pictures of various skin problems, and were either given no info about the pictures, told that there might be something wrong with the patient's skin, or asked to look for a specific skin condition. Those given no info were less likely to find anything wrong; those told there was something wrong were more likely to find something; those told to look for a specific condition found that condition, even if it wasn't there!

It's usually easier to spot something on x-ray if you have been told what you are looking for and where the patient is complaining of symptoms. Thats the whole idea of x-rays.......you take them to confirm or rule out a clinical suspicion.
.........btw.......many, many tumours are missed on x-ray every year
