Re: World cruise...
Saw the boss of P&O on tv this morning, this could cost them £20 million after all the compensation has been paid and the only difference that might make to the share price is a drop of 5 cents. Excuse the pun, but it sounds like £20 million is just a drop in the ocean to them.
Its a great shame that all those fare paying passengers didn't get to see the wonderful sights that had booked up for.
Do you think it serves them right having the liner built in Germany instead of keeping it here in the U.K.
The Aurora was also hit with a stomach bug epidemic on one trip, that made the headlines also, seems like an ill fated vessel to me, although from the outside it has stunning looks.

Re: World cruise...
Isn't this the same vessel where the Champagne bottle didn't break when it was Christened? I understand that's supposed to be a sign of impending bad luck for a ship?

Re: World cruise...
I've been following the reports on this, I was pleased to see they had managed to find charities to take on the fresh food, that was no longer needed
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/h...re/4193161.stm
we were wondering, at work, today, what the people who were expecting to be away for over 3 months, would do now?
- and just before posting I see Sarah_77 had the same thought

Re: World cruise...
It was a huge cock up, but at upto £47,000 a ticket, and the fact its a long cruise, the passengers probably didn't work anyway !

Re: World cruise...
I know I would be very annoyed, something like that I would be gutted if it didn't work out, and would demand money back, plus compensation for the sheer stupidity of the operator and the designer of the ship, which totally ruined many peoples vacation of there lives.

Saw the footage of The Princess Royal naming the ship, and the bottle not breaking. As soon as I saw that i know it wasnt going to be a lucky ship. Personally I thought, by tradition, that a ship had to be named before its launch and the keel tasted saltwater. Perhaps there is more to this superstition malarky than meets the eye.

Re: World cruise...
Slightly off topic, but...I'd love to go on a cruise some time but not something like this.
There are some old boats with the old sales, like this one:

They make you actually do work and help out on these cruises which is much more fun than sitting at a pool all day and you learn loads.
I went on the boat pictured when it was docked in France and I can tell you it is wonderful.
