Re: Galloway wins libel case against the Telegraph

Rumsfeld was in Baghdad in 83/84 actually, when he was Reagan's special envoy to the Middle East.

It's interesting what some people said about him when he did have WMDs, and what those same people said about him when he didn't have WMDs. Something doesn't add up, and I don't mean George W Bush's economic policies.

What do the Democrats have to do with George Galloway anyway? By anyone's reckoning he's politically far to their left, and presumably dislikes Clinton (who supported sanctions on Iraq) and Kerry (who voted for the war that GG opposes).

Well, you brought up Rumsfeld, so I thought it would be fair to link those quotes in as they always suprise people, like the video shows. Also whenever anyone brings up that photo of Rumsfeld, I bring out my Chirac-Hussein collection. Chirac is probably worse than Galloway.

I bring up Rumsfeld's links with Saddam to contrast with Galloway's and you bring up quotes by Democrats going back ten years? Still fail to see the connection. Still, there are plenty more politicians with dodgy pasts with dictators we could bring up here, Nixon, Heath, Hurd...

Since he's actually in a position to exercise power and has been for years, he's had ample opportunity to be worse (which he's often taken, too). Doesn't stop him and Galloway being *right* about the Iraq war, though. Both may well prove to be a stain on history, but the size of the stain is tiny compared with that made by those who lied to take the US and UK to war and are attempting to dismantle our civil liberties.
