BBC in trouble

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3851787.stm

The BBC seems to be the public punch bag at the moment! There are closing down 5 of there sites thankfully the news and the sports pages are safe for the moment but the BBC website is certainly not being allowed to expand and is being reduced.

Also the license fee is still not secured yet! I hope the BBC manages to fight off any more kick-downs!

Re: BBC in trouble

Sky doesn't offer nearly as much depth and is a privately owned company so they dont get bullied as much. Murdoch however seems to love picking on the BBC as he hates public broadcasting.

Also I dont see why this is good news. Do you really want all news companies to be owned by people with their own agendas

i'm glad some of the sites are shutting down but the others need to be UK only.
i'm fed up paying the UK license fee to service the need of the rest of the world.

Yes, And until you back up your statements about the BBC being biased i continue to believe that. You keep saying that but BACK IT UP. Stop listening to fox news telling you that it is biased and get some bloody proof

I think it is a good thing that the whole word can read it. It is something to be proud of, A lot of people dont have such good media sources so the BBC is the default for the whole world. You cannot take the BBC away from the world it would be a great loss

There is nothing that hurts you in the BBC letting it service be used around the world. Why stop people in a different country using it? How does that affect you? It helps and pleases them and give them a great service why do you want to take it away for no good reason other than there are not from the uk?

Let the whole world use it. The whole world can get news then can be a lot more informed. whats wrong with bringing the world a great service?

Re: BBC in trouble

AS long as H2G2 stays I don't care what else goes.

However I still believe in public service and as it has been proven today current affairs and public service broadcasting isn't being provided by ITV and other commercial channels. With the BBC at least a certain amount of the content has to be informative to the public.

So lets hope that the changes herald a step away from all the reality cr@p that infests our screens at present.A little more history and current affairs will be good for us.

Incog.

I completely agree with you. That is not fair. They are stealing money from you and others are benefitting from it. I would must rather pay for my own service than to utilize a service that was funded my stolen money.

I have provided numerous reasons as to why I believe that BBC is biased. Feel free to read through them. That said, this is not a factual piece of information. Neither side can claim that BBC or Fox is biased or not biased: it is an opinion, and there are supportive arguments that can be made for it. Hence, I can point you in the direction of why I believe BBC is biased: nothing more.

Money being used to help others? Must be wrong then

Look the license fee is the same website or no website so who cares? I think other people should be allowed to view it! It doesn't hurt you they are not stealing from you. The site is made and designed for english people but they dont mind other people viewing it

Re: BBC in trouble

my view:

If you buy a TV you have to pay for the BBC, if there is no BBC there's no point buying aTV.
