Vote for a New Bank holiday
Probably wishful thinking.... but
Quote:
Vote for another bank holiday!!
There is a chance the public can make St Georges Day a public holiday
Click on the link below to vote, the site needs at least 30,000 votes for the government to take it seriously and give us another holiday, and I know your lazy so and so's out there are up for that!!!!!
Pass the address on to whoever you can as it's only halfway there!!

Re: Vote for a New Bank holiday
But how would we celebrate it - do we go the St Patricks Day route or would we have to settle for a cup of tea and a slice of cake
(All for having another Bank Holiday though )

Does it allow you to vote 'no'?

Yep - there's a 'Yes', 'No' and an 'Undecided' as well (although I've never understood why you'd vote in a poll when you can't decide what your answer is )

Re: Vote for a New Bank holiday
Good - I'll vote 'yes' when they run a similar campaign for St David's day

Re: Vote for a New Bank holiday
they have over 90000 votes on the site now, so do you think the government will take it seriously?!

I don't think 4 counts as 'so many' - let's face it, we are made up of 4 separate countries
Anyway, don't you have a Presidents Day or something over there, which is the same sort of thing?

Re: Vote for a New Bank holiday
More days off are always a good thing, but for some workers bank holidays are included in their annual leave, so if another bank holiday was created they'd not get any extra holiday and instead of being able to choose when they take it off they have it fixed...not good.
