Unable to go to war without the US?!?

So basically we will not fight any war without the US

, this is a very worrying position to find ourselfs in espically with the President that is there at the moment

Well, to fight, you'll need some kind of navy or something.... And I mean, France has a bigger navy than the UK...

I think you're confusing the Royal Navy with whatever excuse of a Navy Canada has.

It's not how big it is, it's what you do with it that counts.

Unless you would rate the Chinese army as superior to the US simply because it's about three times bigger?

We have a navy, an airforce, an army and special forces that man to man I would put up against the USA or Canadas any day of the week.

For such a little island that is literally a fraction of the size of continental North America the fact we hold any sway in the world at all is testiment to the skill and professionalism of our armed forces. Let alone the fact we used to own a third of it.

If the USA had soldiers of our calibre then they would be a force, to be reckoned with and respected. All they have are numbers and technology.

It wasn't too long ago we went to the other side of the world and took care of business. I have to admit though I doubt we could do that at the moment. But the world is a different place. Full on conflict is less and less likely. Our armed forces although somewhat depleted are now are specialised reactionary force that can be deployed quickly to trouble spots throughout the world.

The soldier that wears the Union Jack on his sleeve is still respected and feared throughout the world.

Maybe the French realised that people can't swim well with explosives strapped to them

Ha-ha the French navy has always been Cannon fodder for the British navy. There utter useless and know it. How many times have they had there country taken over now. How many wars have they lost.

The British Army has NEVER lost a war. Although I have to say 100 thousand isn't much of an army now

Do we really need a military at all?

If we were to unilateraly closed down our permanent armed forces, do we really think that someone will invade the UK? If so who?

No one would invade as such- but we need something to go out and get those who harbour the civilians who would 'terrorise' us.

Plus we need someone to fill in for the firemen.

Before Jerrek points it out there was the American War of Independence, however as I have pointed out in another thread this was against mainly French mercenaries that actual Americans

Do some reading and you'll find it wasn't even a war. You dont go to war with your own colony

Ps the French only shown them how to run faster
