alcohol ban extended.

the aboriginal areas of australia have seen the government ban alcohol from areas of the country in a bid to stop disorder and violence.

but now the total number of settlements to have the ban on alcohol has increased to 17.

in other areas, strict rules on drinking have been implimented.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asi...ic/3634237.stm

and this people is a great idea for areas of this country that have problems with drink, as much as i hate the stuff(due to its detremental affect on health) i would back a similar stance in this country.

Totally disagree with you kronas, if you start to ban stuff all that happens is that all the controls that are there at the moment disappear and things get worse. People would start to brew their own stuff and their health would suffer alot more than it does now.

how can you disagree ? if there are problems in an area where violent crime is problematic for people who are trying to protect themselves and there property, i see no valid reason to oppose such a move which is there to keep everyone safe......

the whole of australia is not getting a alcohol ban

its just certain areas, i back the plan...........

its better then sitting back and letting people in areas where druken disorderness is rife destroy and cause chaos to property......

or is a simple drink going to prevent people from behaving properly

Re: alcohol ban extended.

It will just be driven undeground into the hands of criminal gangs. in the 19 20's the US tried prohibition and eventually had to give up because of the gangs who took over and ran the alcohol trade.

Education is the best way to deal with alcohol abuse in my opinion.

Re: alcohol ban extended.

I don't know if it's because I just watched the Untouchables again the other day, but wouldn't they just go out of the area and bring alcohol in?

all the education in the world cannot solve alochol abuse in people, not teens but older people who cannot control themselves while under the influence of alcoholic beverages......

Me too.
....but the Aborigines have a problem metabolising alcohol. They get really crazy when they drink. It's a big problem for them

Re: alcohol ban extended.

which areas are they then kronas?

How do you say that one area has a problem and one doesn't. If you go out into any city centre tonight in this country you will see some people acting like t***s cos they can't handle it, does this mean that the whole area should have a ban imposed?

No i don't believe it has, what has started in this country is to make it illegal to walk down the street drinking in most city centres which is fair enough IMO

Re: alcohol ban extended.

The Aborigines have a problem with alcohol on a metabolic/'cellular' level. It's just not the same as a bunch of pi**heads on a Saturday night.
