Cannot access any 'Secure' pages for over a month now!

New IBM Notebook Cel 2.0 before Christmas, but since the holiday cannot get any 'Secure' pages (Ebay/Amazon payments. Ebay 'Register'. Hotmail Account) to load.

Is it a virus?

Techie at University says Windows XP Home needs to be re-installed, but no copies came with the Notebook.

Anyone got any ideas?

The proxy wont be your problem (if its set to the same one as http) I would turn off your firewall and try again. !

Depending on what port you're trying to access out on 80 and 8080 should be OK anything outside of this you may have issues if it not one of the other standard ones (ftp etc)
