Has anyone used Microsft Biztalk

I was wanting to have a look at this book while in Southport before I paid for it but hubbys being what they are was to impatient so I bought it. Much to his annoyance he thought I would say I would leave it.. He didnâ₠¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢t know the price though perhaps thought it was dearâ₠¬Ã‚¦

Anyway just wondered if anyone has used it before I open up the CDâ₠¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s and load them on my pc. It is by far the cheapest Microsoft book I have bought.
it is the MCSE Exam 70 - 230 self paced training kit Cost me all of £2,00

Biztalk is an XML based Business to Business software package, you define trading relationships between partners to automate transactions. I think its really targetted at smaller firms as anyone serious about doing this would use something else.

For £2, it's a good way to learn about XML and web services.

Whats the book you are reading Kitty ?

I think I got the most out of the Cisco ccna and ccnp books. There policy is to teach from the ground up (networks/packets ect). Microsoft based books dont apear to do this....

Re: Has anyone used Microsft Biztalk

Stuart's right about MS books - they tend to want to teach the "microsoft" way of doing things, rather than the "real world" way (should that be "correct" way?)

There are much better texts than the MS ones - as well as those mentioned above, if (like may of us) you prefer to learn by cracking a book, check out the O'Reilly series (uniformly excellent, covers networking, UNIX/Linux, servers and security as well as Windows topics) SAMS (again good - they have some excellent "Starter" level guides too) and Coriolis Technology Press (very good in-depth technical books)

Also, MS are implementing BizTalk in to Small Business Server too - I believe you may still be able to get an "Evaluation" CD of this product from MS (they were giving them away at the back end of last year) if you wanted to check that out!

O'Reilly - http://www.oreilly.com/
SAMS - http://www.samspublishing.com/
Coriolis - http://www.coriolis.com/

HTH!

The O'Reilly books are great - Though I do have book on microsoft windows thats very usefull (it stops my dining room table wobbling)

At least cisco books teach you from the ground up..... I know a guy that has an mcse, mcp, mcie and god know what else..... He cant even use a dos prompt...I asked him what a frame was and he told me " for holding glass in "

He was even convinced that Microsoft developed TCP/IP

Re: Has anyone used Microsft Biztalk

Yes I have a couple of books on Windows too....never read them, they're from two companies called "Coldseal" and "SafeStyle"

Ouch!

...enough of the Windows jokes! Although my preference is linux, I also use MS products regularly, and I've completed the MCSE and MCDBA credentials along the way... you'd be surprised how many companies expect this sort of thing!

I'd agree with Stuart's comments above though - when recently hiring extra techies for my company, we interviewed one guy who had an MCSE, who tried to tell me that Bill Gates set up the internet in 1995, with the launch of the "Microsoft Network" and Windows 95!

Suffice to say, he won't be troubling us with a second interview!
