No, to do this would require each device to have a valid "real world" IP address, you only get one with your NTL connection.

to have both PC's on BB at the same time you need a router that both your PC's would connect to, or you need to connect one PC to the cable modem, and the other PC to the first PC with a crossover network cable, then use internet connection sharing on the first PC.

Re: Modem question

Actually if you request the "ps2 service" from customer services or Tech Support, then you shall be leased 2 IP's and able to use both enet and usb at the same time.

Re: Modem question

Yes if you enable 'internet connection sharing' in windows 2000/xp.

You will need to install another network card and connect another pc to that via a crossover cable.

Just to clarify as it is not clear from your post.

If the question is can you connect one PC via ethernet and the other via USB at the same time the answer is NO. EDIT: Unless you want to pay extra money to NTL to use the same connection this way as the standard connection you have will not allow this.

As stated you can either set up internet connection sharing and use a crossover "Patch" cable or install a router which will allow connection of several PC's to the same connection.

What is possible is using the usb to connect to one PC (assuming it has no ethernet card) and at other times connect to the other PC using the ethernet option. Just not possible to have both working at same time.

BTW if you were to do this you would need to reboot the modem in between each swap as it "ties" itself to the specific connection and that has to be reset if the device it is connected to changes.

Only because that service is special though and comes with all the necessary equipment including cables, instructions and a premium cost for the connection itself AFAIK.

For the situation posed by the thread starter that is not possible and not what he was asking.

You are provided with the cables on install with the modem. All you do is ring cmr service and say 'id like the ps2 service' then stick the cable in. If anything goes wrong ring TS and its sorted. The service is £3 extra. No instructions/work has to be done. (apart from the cable sticking in)

Would appear from Mr.Moony that the price has reduced to £3 now which I assume applies nationwide.

EDIT: Was not saying it wasn't a solution Mr.Moony just pointing out that it required a different service which would also cost more is all.

Why on earth would someone want another IP when NTL cant even get the first one to work correctly ?

I would use ics and a second network card. !!

Best change this statement "If the question is can you connect one PC via ethernet and the other via USB at the same time the answer is NO." To YES then eh :p. In theory only of course

Edit applied to first post pointing out that paying extra and ordering a different service would allow it, should he wish to pay for the privilidge every other multi PC user gets for free.
