Re: Internet Connection Sharing for Windows XP

If you are connecting two computers up with an Ntl Cable modem you'll need:

In the main computer : two nic's (or one nic for the network and a USB port for the modem, many recommend two nics though) about £10 each

In the client computer: one nic

Start with the main computer, I'm assuming its like the XP wizard, run the network setup wizard and then at the end tick the "create wizard disk" which then allows you to take the wizard and your settings to the next computer. Run the disk on the next pc and you should be away

I hope thats all right, I'm still not all that good at networks.

Re: Internet Connection Sharing for Windows XP

actually you dont need the create wizard disk thing.
its the same thing as the network setup wizard in the network connections property. Just the do the above, selecting your net connection as what you want to share, and then go to the secondary machine, run the wizard but instead of saying that the computer is the one which is accessing the net select the middle option to say that its a machine connecting to another machine which is the one connected to the net and continue onwards till the end where when asked to create a wizard disk, just end it. As your done. Then configure firewall to make sure network things are not being blocked.

EDIT: whoops didnt read the last page. AFAIK you'll need the create wizard thing or the windows XP cd so you can use the wizard on ME.
