It was the lack of shiny I was referring to. I don't see my wallpaper much either, except on my secondary screen, & that's partially covered by magnifier & NetMeter, but I do like my shiny taskbars, buttons, & title bars on progs. I'm currently using a Vista-ish Visual Style that changes the start button to a round 1 kinda like Vista, & without the "Start" caption. Someday, when I can be bothered, I may get around to creating my own Visual Style.

well the my comp docs network and bin are all in desktop icon settings then change icon.
Things like IE and control panel you need a shortcut not a desktop icon same as with hard drives etc. On a shortcut just right click select properties then change icon

I went for a walk to my local woods and took a good few pics, so her is one of them as my current wallpaper.
