Yep. Microsoft licenced the DVD writing components from a company called "Sonic Solutions", and they are the same DVD writing components that Sonic's own programs MyDVD and DVDit use.

I know how crap they can be: I supported DVDit at work for 2 years. It caused soo many problems.

Re: Vista RC1 and beyond compatability

Had a mail from MS not long ago 43% downloaded of RC2. Question will be which box to update first, I know the Mrs and my youngest should be happier (fingers crossed, toughin wood etc) as MS have promised certain solutions fixed in RC1 and they use it more than me.

Would be really nice bonus if they have opened up the MC capability to UK 360's aswell.

Re: Vista RC1 and beyond compatability

Latest imgburn seems to work a treat

Asus AI software should work my AIBooster for the p4p800e-dlx runs when set to run as administrator, it will error otherwise. This will apply to many software that requires a lower level access to drivers etc, if it doesnt run and pops an error up try it as anministrator, if that fails try both xp sp2 compatable and as an administrator.

zboard software and drivers work, install and set every application to run as administrator in the softwares "drivers" directory

Re: Vista RC1 and beyond compatability

BF2 invalid key was down to it being corrupted probably from applying the 1.4 patch as all recent patchs encrypt the key, EA have a keycheck app if it happens and you can use the key application on the disc to re enter the key if that doesnt work.

Wanting to join servers using punkbuster, which probably goes for any game using punkbuster you would need to start BF2 or other games as administrator. Seems like all this restricted privelages accounts are almost useless if so much needs to run with escalated privelages. Doesnt seem right, as linux wouldnt require this.

The reason behind this is bad programming. Too many programs (particularly games) assume that the user has Administrator rights, so won't work under limited accounts as they cannot do something they need to (like write to a registry key etc.

TBH, there isn't any excuse for that kind of sloppy programming. Microsoft said years ago that they would be introducing enhanced security in Vista, so all software companies should be trying to get ready for it.
