Re: Vista RC1 and beyond compatability

ow for those that might have a Full MSDN account you can grab Vista Home, Business and Ultimate from it now

have to say the final build is quite good and stable. am using the Home Premium. ow and Aero is pretty cool very nice with IE and yes I know I said it...I normally hate IE.

I'm running Home Premium at the moment and I've noticed that Aero is actually more responsive than the windows classic theme.

The current version of Dtools (4.06HE) runs perfectly under Vista 32 bit.

Re: Vista RC1 and beyond compatability

One thing that annoys me are Creatives useless Vista beta drivers for the XFI, under XP I can upmix MP3's to play in surround sound, even though you can set it in the Creative Audio Console under Vista, it doesn't actually output in anything > 2.1 (speakers are set to 5.1)

Re: Vista RC1 and beyond compatability

Whats the latest greatest build ?

I got RC1 in my archive : If I install that will I get anywhere (patching via windoze update) near the Ultimate release thats on MSDN (build 6000 i think).

I dont have MSDN : No money no MSDN

I don't get u Zing. RC1 is just a mashed up release candidate : But on MSDN is apparently The full product range (although not necessarily the final working version

What my question how does RC1 differ to Vista Ultimate.

Sod this I'll boot up RC1 and find out

Re: Vista RC1 and beyond compatability

crc if you still got your RC1 key then I think that you can go for RC2 if thats still available.

I'm lucky as my work gave me a MSDN OS account so am typing this now on Vista Home Premium and I have to say that it hasnt crashed on me yet (touch wood)

Nope cant see RC2 anywhere - still get the RC1 keys.

Can get an MSDN version 2morrow if I want but may just install normal winxp pro as I dont fancy having problems with software not working I know for sure that my DV capture software is not vista compatible.

Heres my plan

[1] Assemble core2duo 2morrow

[2] Quick install of kubuntu run some benchmarks : pause : gloat....

[3] Install windows XP : test a few apps and bench : *get p***ed off due to poor benchmarks : continue installing office, apps et al for the missus.

[4] Go back to kubuntu and fine tune

[5] edit : will install vista when it's released officially 1 day before my birthday : WTF ! Come on microsoft must be taking the p*** for launching it on that date
