It's a tad concerning

Just a thought - is it becasue that is the top 1000 UK individuals - not teams?

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
From the FAQ
When I returned my results and got a new work unit, why were the "Data units completed" and "Total computer time" values not updated?
When we receive the results of a completed work unit at our server, it is transferred to a separate computer for processing. There may be a delay of up to a few days before the results are assimilated and verified. Your credit is updated only after verification of the work unit results data. Once the server has updated your statistics, your computer will receive the revised values the next time it connects to the server. This means that your displayed statistics will generally lag behind the work actually done.

Patience - no hope. We've all experienced ntl and thus have a big mistrust of anything that doesn't happen instantly.
I'm not sure I'm comfortable with Seti@home going down the "coming soon" route

I thought that, but I don't think that's the case. The top position is the overclockers forum though. They have about five and a half million units processed. I think it would be very unlikely a single person could have done that many!

...and their site has a thread that's has loads of useful info. Bit dated but most of it is still valid. Must be totally mad to freely offer such info - what happened to tactics and competitive behaviour? I think it's where I got the link for the stats display thing.

This reminds me of the story a few years ago where Pixar (the people who did Toy Story et al) decided that, since they were going to be off for a fortnight over Xmas, they would turn their entire Render Farm over to Seti@home (and we're talking some *serious* computing power there!)
Apparently when they came back in the New Year they were *VERY* put out to discover that the Overclockers had still come in ahead of them!

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
Well done homealone!
Just decided that the command line version does now make a difference. It didn't on my old PC, but on my new(ish) one it takes about an hour off the time. Have just put it on my laptop too. It takes about 45 minutes off the time on that.

Newbies nightmare are the overclockers - speak the computing equivalent of Ancient Hebrew Must all be using multi-processor machines that are heavily tweaked, though they're the sort that keep old machines - I have this vision of a stifling room stacked to the ceiling with PCs...

Hmmmm. I lost one Unit because I couldn't get the command line client to accept the partially complete unit from the graphical SETI client I've installed SETI driver but it seems to make my PC run very slow when the client priority is set to "normal" - I have to have it set to "low". Not sure why this is - the graphical SETI client ran all the time, presumably as a normal process??
Rough estimate so far is that the CLI client has shaved 6 hrs off the average time taken by the graphical client. I don't know why I didn't use it from the start

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
The graphical client defaults to 'low' as well.
