What Berkeley do need to do is tell us what will we will need to match up in our accounts for the data merge to work. email addys, user names, or both. I suspect a lot of people will have different BOINC details to their classic account, especially those who set up accounts after the first BOINC data transfer of mid May.
Decided that I want to get to 2500 WUs done then I'll move over to BOINC stuff. Seems like a nice round number to me
Meantime, I'm having difficulty sending completed Classic WUs Anyone else still on classic having probs?

I think they'll run a query that copies all the current WU totals across from the old database to the new one. But - like you say - some people will have changed email address. I guess those people will have to somehow request an update by notifying SETI Admin what their old email address was. I can't see any other way of doing it. Going to be a bit of a nightmare though - having to manually update the WU count on a per account basis. Not sure how many people will have changed their email address though - can't be that many?? There's also those users who have created a new account rather than using their migrated one. Not sure what will happen there. Hopefully SETI Admin will be accommodating, especially when you consider that many people will have created a new account because the old wasn't worth bothering with due to a low or non-existent classic WU count or was inaccessible due to it having an old email address - both of which are the fault of SETI Admin.

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
Hmmmmm. Just looked at the team leader board and we're going down - fast We'll fall out the top hundred shortly. Some of our members have gone missing. According to the SETI@Work site there are 23 inactive members (i.e. no longer submitting WUs) yet there are only 16 members of the BOINC team. Where'd the other 7 go?? Overall, the BOINC team has less than half the members of the original team. So if you're reading this - download BOINC and sign-up to SETI. Your forum needs you

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
Have a read of this http://homepage.mac.com/pauldbuck/si...eferences.html, especially the "Keep enough work on disk to last between" explanation.
Increasing your minimum and maximum cache sizes should help with problems getting WUs - BOINC will be connecting to the server less often because each time it does, it will be downloading plenty of WUs. I've configured BOINC to have a cache of between 4 and 6 days worth of work. Six SETI WUs are waiting to be processed and it's working on a Predictor WU.
If BOINC is waiting to contact the SETI server you can always nudge the process by right-clicking the SETI project in the Projects tab of BOINC and selecting "Update".

Will join BOINC once I get to the magic number 2500 classic WUs. Then, if they've not been nicked again (our office was burgled yet again last night and another 4 PCs went for a walk ), I'll turn the new computing power over to the team, if I can get our network to play ball. Then well see if some of those places can be regained.

Weybridge, but that's probably saying too much, if the little oiks who have all my PCs are browsing this forum, so they know where to go for their next load.
The really dumb thing is the police didn't want to know. Because only one sensor was tripped, the alarm was "unconfirmed" so they won't attend. For anyone relying on a burglar alarm, make sure that it is upgraded so that anyone entering the building must trip at least two separate sensors, else nobody will be interested, and they just deem it to be a fault

Scroats.
BOINC runs as a server - I've had to give it server permissions in my firewall config (it's Zone Alarm Pro). I've also added the following IP addresses as trusted:
66.28.250.124 BOINC
66.28.250.125 BOINC
128.32.18.151 SETI stats
137.131.252.84 Predictor stats
and added rules to only allow UDP DNS and TCP HTML to those sites. It all seems to be working fine. There might be command line options to run BOINC silently - the URL I gave in my previous post might be some help.

Yeah, that's the really annoying thing - it's the same with household alarms, you need to have it so that 2 sensors are tripped, else no one pays any attention - and even then it doesn't go directly to the police, it goes to your monitoring station, for which you pay a silly sum of money so that someone monitors it, and if they feel its a proper incident then they'll call the police - noise only alarms these days, are really just a psychological deterrent.
Basically you have to cover every single square meter of your premises just so you can be sure that 2 sensors will be set off, within the required time limit.
