Re: Team SETI@cableforum
I'm getting no new seti work again. I've also signed up to the Predictor@home project and WU's are coming through from there just fine.
Looks like the chimps at seti@home still haven't got it right. Never mind the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence, right now I'd settle for finding some intelligence on the seti@home boinc project team!!!

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
Well my total credit appears to have jumped right up to 73.06.However I can't see if it is reflected on the site because the Seti site is STILL down.

Ah! So there's two of us now. Would anyone mind if I created a CF Team then, or should that be done by an admin??
What resource share did you set?

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
I've just added predictor@home as well, just getting a whole stack of units at the moment.
Mines set to 50/50.
edit: I've detached from SETI and using 100% on Predictor until SETI is running again.

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
Resource share is a bit weird - the numbers don't matter, it's their ratio. I've got it set to 20/60, which means 75% SETI and 25% Predictor. I think
Predictor is good to have for those "occasions" <ahem> that SETI is down and/or BOINC has no work - at least your PC is still doing something.

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
Just noticed that there's a new version of BOINC! The SETI link to it is dead - the Predictor link works though (on the main page).

I think we should have a CF team, so if you create one, I'll join it.
As for the share, I only have Predictor set at 10% but it's currently getting 100% of CPU time as SETI appears to not be sending any work. Looks like they've still got their server problems, but in fairness they have posted an explanation and they've said it would probably go into today.
Also, thanks for the heads up regarding the upgrade to 3.20. I've just installed it over 3.19 and the only drawback was that it reset the WU Boinc was actually working on. Everything else has remained the same. Not sure what they've fixed with this release though?

If you look at the BOINC main page there are four news entries dated July 9th - I guess these updates are contained in the 3.20 release. I remember reading something about the structure of the database and the number of queries/updates run on it being inefficient and I think this is the most significant change in terms of improving overall speed and reliability.
BOINC Project mailing list archives for July - the following thread and the "WU granularity" threads are probably the most relevant:
http://ssl.berkeley.edu/pipermail/bo...ly/000117.html
Note that CPDN is the Climate Prediction Network - another BOINC project waiting in the wings. It's WUs might take weeks though, depending on your CPU.
There's also the BOINC Development mailing list Archives
Your WU shouldn't have been reset - it might just look like it has and then develop a sudden spurt. The progress and time remaining data aren't very accurate
[edit] GEEK ALERT! The mailing list archives contain a fair bit of quite technical information - geeks only
Am I creating the team then?

Re: Team SETI@cableforum
Wow! my credit has gone from 26 to 126.
I know it's puny but at least it's improving.
And we are 93rd on the list. Which when I got to clicking to see how many teams in all I got bored at 1080.
However I have no WU.
