All useful packets are the same size (340K), afaik There are some packets that contain garbage Earth chatter that the program ignores...these packets will prob only last a few minutes before it is disregarded and a new one retreived (with credit ).

Fair dos ...and I was way out with my earlier estimate!

Tho, i have just added Seti to another P4 3.0Ghz (with HT enabled so two SETI instances running tho of course it being HT the second SETI engine is only running at about 25-30% in comparison to the first [physical] processor).

Re: Team SETI@cableforum

SETI is good en all and i used to do it. but it's so far failed to produce any significant results.
Do somthing worthwhile FOLD! (aims to find drugs that are effective at aiding / curing diseases) They have had results and are working to better human kind rather than searching for sensor ghosts.

See my sig for details of my work :-)

Re: Team SETI@cableforum

I presume you can choose when your cpu time is used? If so, I might consider throwing my dual 2gig G5 in...

Re: Team SETI@cableforum

It only does it when your not using your processor Otherwise just stop the program ...saying that I just leave it going when I'm editing videos or playing games, as the engine stops cause it only uses IDLE processing time...

Re: Team SETI@cableforum

You can choose to run it at maximum performance the whole time, like I have.
Because it runs at low priority I was able to watch a DVD, run SETI and keep a P2P client going in the background without one little performance glitch.
Obviously, I'll close it for gaming though.

Re: Team SETI@cableforum

Have another 433 units. This should prompt me to reload it to my new PC. I'm currently running the star alliance starsaver which shows all the star alliance flights fliting round the globe, very pretty it is.

These work units were performed on a Celeron 333 so thats where the 27 hours per unit comes from.

It will soon be installed on an AMD2400, I might install it on the Celeron which is now my file server too.
