Lets all go Mac
"Security threats to PCs with Microsoft Windows have increased so much that computer users should consider using a Mac, says a leading security firm."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/5150508.stm
If everyone went Mac would the hackers not just target them more?

Same could be achieved going Linux
And that is a (cheaper) option open to most current Windows users.

Re: Lets all go Mac
Of course if Macs / Linux were more popular they'd start targeting them instead of Windows.
I don't like the idea of Macs taking over - from the iPod / iTunes experience we should all be clear it's a much more 'closed shop' even than M$.
If only the Linux guys could work together and come up with a viable alternative, we'd all be better off....

Re: Lets all go Mac
The problem is that while you have one dominant platform (any - Linux, Mac OSX, Windows), that platform will be attacked more than any other. Look at Firefox for an example of this. Firefox is fairly secure (much more so than IE), but as it gains popularity, more holes are appearing.

While Macs look nice I still prefer my PC.

So your OS choice is determined by the box it runs in?

Well I do have a choice of OS on my box. I have tried to use a Mac and don't like it. My G/F has one.

The new Intel based macs can run the mac os's, windows and linux. AFAIK they are the only boxes that can run all three platforms.

Not legally, anyway. Probably not reliably either.
