TFT Repairs

Hi all,
I have a 19" TFT in my possession that seems to be overheating, at least thats my assumption. The product number on the back is MA-982K.
Whats happening is that after 10-15 minutes the screen seems to turn off, or at least turns black. Everything still runs in the background, graphics, audio etc.If i power the monitor off and then back on i see the desktop for 2 seconds or so, then back to a black screen. If i power the monitor off for half an hour, then back on, it will stay on again for 10-15 minutes or so, then back to a black screen.
This has been tested on two different systems with the same results. The TFT is part of a PC World system that has passed its 12 month warranty.
Would anybody know of any solutions to fixing this, or know of anywhere in the Lancashire area that would be able to repair it.

Thanks for any help,

Mick

Re: TFT Repairs

Have a similar but in a way opposite problem in so far as ours took ages to actually show a picture (had to keep switching it on and off) then once it came on long enough to interact with it would stay on. Now all we get is a flashing blue light (even after the power cord is disconnected) and nothing.

Re: TFT Repairs

Your PC is out of warranty but if you phone PC ServiceCall (0870 901 3000) you might be able to get a number for a "cash call" on the Proview.

Alternatively may be Proview can do this themselves OTOMH i can't remember the number.

---------- Post added at 21:51 ---------- Previous post was at 21:49 ----------

Number for Proview is 0870 7572944

or you can email service@proview.co.uk

Re: TFT Repairs

It's unlikely it's overheating, usually the controller boards go on them, could be the DPMS circuitry going funny. Proview (the manufacturer) can be contacted on0870 757 2945 (press option 5), nffc's number is just their general service contact number, this one is their out of warranty repair line.
