DVDFab Express to Mpeg.
Hi,
I have just managed to back up one of my DVD's to a folder, using DVD FAB Express.
What program should Iuse to transcode to MPEG2 or preferably MPEG4.
I am a total noob at this.

Re: DVDFab Express to Mpeg.
I know Nero Recode can do this, by recoding it to Nero Digital format (Mpeg 4 if i'm not mistaken)
However, it took 2 hours to recode one DVD on my system. Nothing will be much faster

Re: DVDFab Express to Mpeg.
It's slow, runs at 1.5-2x even on my PC, which leads me to think it's codec-related.

are you trying to back them up so you can put them on dvd-r or do you want to transcode them for another reason? mainly because dvd files are already mpeg-2...you dont have to transcode

I'm on 754 but then I'm not the sort to buy a CPU and NOT a MB at the same time.
Interestingly LAME MP3 seems to vary (using Audiograbber) between 8-9x and 25-30x for no real reason! Video enc is as slow as on my Athlon XP 2000+ though.

Probably best riupping to an ISO then mounting it as a network drive of some description then watching from there?
Obviously an easier method is to rip to ISO then transfer the file, then watch it using a media player that supports DVD ISO's or mount it using Alcohol 120% or Nero ImageDrive.

Re: DVDFab Express to Mpeg.
DVDFAB is probably the most useless software tool I ever bought. After seen some reviews on software sites (last time this happens, next time gonna stick to user reviews) I bought it and let me assure you, it is a worthless piece of ... . It takes ages to decode to ANY format and you have to tweak the settings in order to get a decent result. When you burn again the settings used are not good for nothing and in general it just doesn't compete with any other tool in the market.
Personally I started using WINAVI which is at least 3 times faster, you can burn your dvd's to any format and burn any format to dvd. Works like a charm and the quality is 100% excellent.
