Router Help

I have two PC's, one running XP, the other XP pro. They are connected via a Linksys BEFSR41. I want to be able to access files that are on the xp pc from the xp pro pc. Is there anyway of doing this, if so how???

Cheers in advance

1)Have you run network wizard?
2)Have you enabled 'file and printer sharing'?
3)Have you enabled network sharing on each folder, file, drive etc that you want to access from the other pc?

Then all you need to worry about are the firewalls and the router allowing communication between machines
One or more of the above will enable you to share files. It's not all that difficult, I managed it!

the router should be fine without any additional config (I run one of these myself without issues).

what happens if you go into my network places (or just explorer) and put in "\\<name_of_other_machine>"

are you allocating the IP via dhcp on the linksys ?

sorry for all the Qs - but I will check the exact config on mine later...

To view files on the other pc you nee to:
right click on the drive/file > sharing & security> put a tick in 'share this folder on the network'
