Re-Installing Windows XP
Well, I re-installed XP alot of times but I want to clear everything from my harddrive. Like When I reinstall and look at my memory, I only have the memory I had. Can someone tell me how to re-install XP and getting the full GB's back?
Thanks

Re: Re-Installing Windows XP
I assume you mean Hard Disk Space.
In which case, remove all the partitions and recreate. Then install XP.

Re: Re-Installing Windows XP
 to the forum.
As Simon says its just a matter of formatting.Make sure you have saved everything you need.
Boot from xp cd
When option to point to a partition point to c: and select
Then simply select format to Ntfs quick
Then install as normal.
A small tip if you have not got original driver cd then make sure you download and save newest drivers first as sometimes ethernet adapters for example do not have generic drivers so you may not be able to get straight back on the net

Re: Re-Installing Windows XP
Boot the CD, as it gives you the option to re-format.

Re: Re-Installing Windows XP
CD in drive, restart ... go to bios - set first boot device to CDROM. Save, exit... Boot from CD Rom, yes.
Let it load. Go through the menu screens, choose yes to install a fresh copy of windows XP. All your drives will apear... you need to delete the partitions for each of them (if you've got multiple) Recreate the partitions, as many as you want (follow on screen instructions).. make sure you use all the uppartitioned space up as you'l waste HDD space if you don't.
Choose the drive you want to install windows on (usually c:.. ) click it, ntfs format (quick will do, long takes agges)
Follow instructions and reinstall
If you did create more than one partition you'l need to format the other drives from within winblows.. just right click on em, go to format... chose quick format and NTFS file structure and hit go... take's a few secs and bobs your uncle.

Re: Re-Installing Windows XP
It does, trust me. I have installed XP hundreds of times (and support over 300 PCs running XP).

Re: Re-Installing Windows XP
you could hit the F8 key during post this may give you a boot option and select cd rom. Point the installer to the drive you want to use the next page will give you format options .
If not press in turn the del key or F2 key during post one of these will allow entry into set up.In advanced options i would guess you see boot sequence go there and make cd rom first.Save and exit
After boot the screen will read to boot from cd rom pres any key do this
The set up will start. It will say windows found and offer to reapir install do not select this let the set up continue. Then it will ask where to load windows to direct to correct partition and hit correct key.It will then give options to leave as is or format to fat or ntfs select format to ntfs quick. When set up continues it will boot a new clean install

Re: Re-Installing Windows XP
The BIOS (Basic Input/Ouput System) loads up first when you start you computer before Windows boots. The BIOS Controls all the hardware in your PC and tells it what to do.
