Blocky DVD playback

Here's an odd one that I don't understand.

I've bought Mrs A some Queen DVDs for Xmas (Video Hits 1 & 2 and Wembly Live). I've just been testing them out on her computer (Via M6000 based) and, although Nero will scan them okay, the 4 disks I've tried so far all apear blocky and jer-jerky in PowerDVD. The intros play okay but the main features all seem to suffer. We've never seen this before and when I tried Bend It.. again it played fine.

Now, the M6000 is not particularly fast (but it is quiet since there is no fan) so I was wondering whether these DVDs had a particularly high data rate or summat.

Any ideas?

Yep, the 'hardware acceleration' box is ticked.

Re: Blocky DVD playback

Couple of thoughts, Altis - is DMA enabled on the DVD drive (if it can be)? And do you have the DVD drive set as master; is there anything else on the same IDE channel?

Re: Blocky DVD playback

Yep, DMA is enabled. I'm not sure if it is the master but it's definately the only thing on that IDE channel.

The video data rate seems to be about 5.5mbps - which seems normal to me.
