New to telewest - struggling

Apologise for bullet points but already typed it once and it dissapeared when i tried to post

- new to telewest as of last week
- signed up to 1Mb broadband
- internet installed on one of my machines downstairs
- want to split connection with both compters and webserver (toy)
- cant use hub as mac address needs to be cloned
- dug out a Linksys BEFSR41 and set up network no problems
- having lots of problems with internet on two main computers (server fine)

- Internet is very slow (much less that expected 400K (ish) per comp more like 56K)
- Messenger not sending all messages and refusing webcam connections
- when webcams work internet on other comp is unusable as internet sharing not fair
- Oh and disconnecting the server makes NO difference

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated as this is getting very frustrating. Would also appreciate some advice on how the following settings should be set in the router config:

Block WAN Request
Multicast Pass Through
IPSec Pass Through
PPTP Pass Through
Remote Management
Remote Upgrade
MTU
Filter Internet NAT Redirection
Filter IDENT(port 113):

Cheers
Ryan Heath

Re: New to telewest - struggling

If you are on the 1Mb service you are not going to get 400k downloads, about 120k is the maximum (assuming you mean bytes per sec as it's not entirely clear from your post).

Re: New to telewest - struggling

I never mentioned downloads anywhere im just on about surfing in general is really slow. Im obv not expecting 1meg speeds on both computers as they are sharing the connection but it feels like im only using 56K modem
