Re: Five reasons NOT to use Linux

The usual crap spouted by Linux lovers

It's the most popular OS atm, and likely to be for the forseeable future, get used to it.

I think he was using a sarcastic tone when he wrote it

Re: Five reasons NOT to use Linux

Well, you could see the exactly the same arguments on 'windows-watch.com' saying Windows is better.

Lets face it, the #1 reason why you shouldn't use linux is that it wastes your life away, getting it to do...............anything.

Ah, the usual crap spouted by people who think that "most widely used" = "most popular" or "good"...

Re: Five reasons NOT to use Linux

Somebody show me a decent, useable and stable Sound Editor, Video Editor and MPEG2 compressor (and maybe a few decent 3d-shootemup type games) for Linux and I'll consider switching full time.

And as nice as Linux is/maybe, its overall 'feel' leaves a lot to be desired compared to the [relative] snappyness of Windows - personally I hate that aspect of it.

Re: Five reasons NOT to use Linux

Linux still seems to complex to be properly usable, also theres the added disadvantage of transferring documents between pcs, unless they are on linux also it could be a pain, the fact that installing programmes can be a tedious process etc, finding out you cant do something when you need to.

I don't think linux will ever be used by the masses tbh

ps, the guy is being sarcastic as a b*****d

Actually its no harder than Windows to use - it just does certain things in a slighty different way.

Again, not really an issue. Linux can read/write FAT(32) Windows partitions, can network between Windows PC's and can read/write CD's/DVD's/Floppy/USB Dongles from Windows.

Depending on the disto, it can actually be a lot easier to install stuff in Linux than with Windows - in (k)Ubuntu for example its just a matter of selecting the app you want in Synaptic package manager, click OK and sit back for a few minutes while it installs. No messing.
Things get err.. 'fun' though if you want something that can't be installed that way...

Neither do I, but I'm not convinced Windows as we now it will be around much longer too. In 10 years time chances are we'll all look back on the time when Linux and Windows were fighting for supremancy only to be kicked in the teeth by the sudden rise of a totally new - wrote from the ground up - OS.
