Magic Eye
I got my dad a magic eye for his TV / Sky Box, as he was fitting his sky box in his wardrobe in the bedroom, it works fine for his set up, and i bought myself one for my set up.
Heres what I bought.....
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...00_i00_details
My problem is that my TV is a 63" Plasma, so I cant exactly take it off the wall to plug in the coax cable that it says is required.
I thought you could just plug this in the back of the sky box and bobs your uncle.
Is their a way i can get this to work without taking down my plasma?, and if not, Is there anything i can buy to plug into my sky box to increase the IR range?

If you look at the amazon link on the picture, its the silver connection, not the black one

Re: Magic Eye
Are you using the coax to drive the 63" plasma?
Do you have phantom power enabled on the Sky Box?
What Sky box do you have?
We have a TV in the living room connected to Sky HD via HDMI, A coax goes from the back of the Sky HD box into a coax socket on the wall, which goes upstairs to the master bedroom and then into the TV. The Magic Eye connects inline on the coax cable. We can operate the Sky HD box via a 2nd remote which signals the Sky box to change channels etc.

You don't plug this into the Sky box, per se, you plug it into the coax socket of the TV you want to control which is then connected to the Sky box via the coax.

In short then, I need to take off my plasma? If so, Is there another way? Another device on the market?
I dont want to have to take down the plasma as it takes 2 people to do it, and its a pain to get back up.

Sorry - that's wrong - if you was to plug it into the Sky box the magic eye IR receiver is wired to the inline adapter so in essence the magic eye part would be near Sky box. a) that's pointless if the TV is in another room. How would the remote upstairs work with the magic eye if it's downstairs? Answer - it won't!

Barewolf: How far away is the Sky box from the 63" plasma? I did ask earlier!

Re: Magic Eye
Errrr - stupid question then - why do you need a magic eye? Just point the remote at the Sky box!!!
Did you enable the phantom RF power on the Sky box?

Re: Magic Eye
Here I thought it was about those old Magic Eye books where you would squint at fractals of colours to see a 3d image.
Imagine my disappointment >.<

I am mate but half the time it doesn't pick up that i want to change channel as we have a large coffee table in the lounge.
I dunno where the phantom RF is, what does that do anyway.

Re: Magic Eye
Not sure you're in the correct menu:
Press SERVICES
Press 4 for SYSTEM SETUP
Press 0 then 1 then Press SELECT - to enter Installers Menu
Press 4 for RF OUTLETS
scroll down to RF OUTLET POWER SUPPLY and turn it to on.
Scroll down to SAVE NEW SETTINGS and Press SELECT to store the changes
Press BACKUP to go Back to your Sky channel
Wouldn't it be easier to move the Sky box up or down a bit?
Have you plugged the silver connector into RF2 of the Sky box? Not sure if needs the other end to be plugged in or not though....as long as the thing gets power it shoudn't matter in your case.
Rebooted the Sky box?

Ive activated the RF power supply, and the silver outlet is plugged into the sky box and it has power.
The other end has a black lead which is supposed to goto the TV, according to the instructions, but i cant see the point in this, and as i mentioned, its not really an option as the TV is too big.
I cant move the sky box as i have surround sound rigged up, blu ray player, they are all rigged up together and i cant really move them.
I havent rebooted the set top box, but i will do, its more likely that i need to plug the other lead into the tv, in which case im screwed.

Re: Magic Eye
I don't think you need the other end plugged in -although I may be wrong on that. Can you test it on another Sky box?
