You thought your SSD was fast..

A team of scientists has designed a new way of reading and writing data to Hard drive that uses Lasers to read and write data and is considerably faster than conventional hard drives and SSDs.

Aparently the process averages at about 200 Gig per second (although the article does not specify bits or bytes or whether that's read or write speed), but according to the scientists, the process involved could allow the HDD to write multiple terabytes a second in the future.

Re: You thought your SSD was fast..

Where does it say that you can use the technique to read the data back?

Pah. Backup systems ftw.

Write once, read never (if you're lucky)
