Vista laptop cannot find router.

My mums Vista laptop has suddenly stopped connecting to my router (Netgear WGT624V3), and it cannot see it, but can see others in my street

I have reboot both laptop and router,

Done a virus scan

I even turned on MAC filtering on the router, and still nothing.

The only thing that I have changed on the router was the channel I went from 6 to 12 as a router near me was using 6.

Did you mean 'turned off MAC filtering'?

Re: Vista laptop cannot find router.

I've seen that happen on laptops, as suggested above, removing and putting settings back in can help, or reinstalling drivers.

also, do you use the Windows software, or the software for the network to connect (Intel, Broadcom etc). I fusing windows, try the other, if using the other, try windows, and maybe remove the specific adapter software and just use windows software.

You shouldn't need to do any of that if it's seeing other networks, but it can help!

I used to have the same Netgear WGT624V3 Router, it connected faultlessly to my Dell laptop running XP for about 2 years then started regularly dropping connection requiring a reboot of laptop and router before laptop could see router again. The router was at fault and I replaced it with D Link router and have had no probs since.

Re: Vista laptop cannot find router.

This is crazy, I turn it on today to have a play, and it connected to the router.

Yesterday, my mobile had problems conneting to the router.

So I reckon the router is on the way out, so I guess the VM upgrade my 20Mb to 60Mb I'll need a new modem/router as I'm on the NTL:250 modem.
